Privacy Policy

This policy covers marqov.ai, our public website. The Marqov platform at app.marqov.ai is a separate product with its own terms and privacy terms, which you agree to when you create an account.
We have tried to write this as a description of what the site actually does rather than a list of everything a company might conceivably do. If you find something here that does not match the site's behaviour, tell us and we will fix it.
1. Who we are
The controller of your personal data is Marqov, Inc., a corporation incorporated in [TO BE CONFIRMED], United States, at [TO BE CONFIRMED]. Our team works from San Francisco and Paris.
For anything in this policy, including a request to see or delete your data, write to ops@marqov.ai. A person reads that mailbox.
2. What this website collects
This site has no accounts, no login and no shopping basket. It collects personal data in exactly two situations: when you choose to fill in a form, and when a page is served to you.
When you fill in a form
Whatever you type. That means your name and email and your message on the contact form; your name, email, company and reason for asking on the access request form; your email alone on the "join us" box on the About page. Every one of these is a field you can see and choose to leave empty.
Submissions are not stored in a database. They are turned into an email and sent to our own mailbox, and that email is the only copy we keep.
The demo request form is different: it is provided by Tally and submitted directly to Tally, so what you type there reaches us through their service. It carries an optional, unticked box asking whether we may keep you informed about Marqov. Ticking it is a choice, and you can change your mind at any time by replying to any message we send or by emailing us.
When a page is served to you
Our host records the usual server request information, including your IP address. When you submit a form, the endpoint keeps your IP address in memory for a few minutes so that the same address cannot flood us with submissions; it is never written down. We also count page views using an analytics tool that sets no cookies and cannot identify you or follow you to other sites.
We do not build profiles, we do not make automated decisions about you, and we do not collect special category data. We ask for nothing about your race, health, politics, religion or anything else in that group, and you should not send it to us in a form.
3. Why we are allowed to use it
For people in the EU, EEA and UK, the law requires us to name a legal basis for each purpose. Ours are:

4. Who else handles it
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we have never done either. We do not pass it to anyone except the service providers below, who process it on our instructions and for no purpose of their own, and anyone we are legally required to give it to.

5. Sending data outside Europe
We are a United States company, so if you contact us from the EEA or the UK your data reaches the United States. Some of it also passes through Japan, which the European Commission has formally recognised as offering adequate protection. Where a transfer needs a safeguard, we rely on the ones our providers offer, which are standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where that provider is certified under it. Ask us and we will tell you which applies to a particular provider.
6. How long we keep it

If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will, unless we are required to keep it.
7. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email ops@marqov.ai and we will answer within one month. We will not charge you and we will not treat you any differently for asking.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to restrict or object to how we use your data, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting what we did before you withdrew it. If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first, but you are entitled to complain directly to a supervisory authority: the one where you live or work, or in France the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL), or in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
If you are in California, you have the right to know what we collect and why, to have it deleted, to have it corrected, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law, and we have not in the past twelve months.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions travel over an encrypted connection and are protected in transit and at rest by the providers listed above. Access to the mailbox that receives them is limited to people at Marqov who need it. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise; if something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
9. Children
This is a business product and the site is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we use data you have already given us, we will make a reasonable effort to tell you rather than relying on you to re-read this page.
